The high-stemmed Purple Flag tulips are beautiful flowers with deep purple petals. Tulips make for strong perennials, as well as elegant cut flowers. When planted before winter, the flowers will flourish in landscapes, fields and yards in spring. The flowers with sturdy stems that can grow up to 18 inches will bloom mid-spring, real proven performers!
Planting tulip bulbs
Originating from mountain areas, tulips are well adapted to living in temperate climates with moderate rainfall. This is one of the reasons these bright flowers are among the most popular of perennials for landscaping purposes. Instructions for planting tulip bulbs:
- Plant tulip bulbs before at least several weeks before the first frost of the year, preferably somewhere between september and december;
- Plant tulip bulbs four inches into the ground to be sufficiently protected from the cold weather above the ground;
- Plant the bulbs from the Purple Flag tulips from De Vroomen approximately two inches apart from one another.
